Our Origins
It began with a quiet realization in a San Francisco classroom. We saw students—bright, capable, and eager—missing consecutive days of school. The reason wasn't illness or lack of interest, but a scarcity of basic hygiene essentials. The stigma of hygiene poverty was creating a barrier to education that few were talking about, and even fewer were addressing at the grassroots level.
A Fresh Start Hygiene Drive was born from the belief that dignity should never be a luxury. We started in a single garage, collecting soaps, shampoos, and period products from friends and neighbors. What began as a local effort soon resonated across the city, revealing a profound community desire to support our families in need. We understood that to solve this problem, we needed more than just items; we needed to raise awareness and foster a culture of compassion.

We are expanding our network of collection hubs to reach every district in the city, ensuring that no student has to choose between their education and their hygiene. For us, this is just the start.
